Frequently asked questions — interior design
I've gathered answers to the questions I hear most often. If you don't find what you're looking for — book a project call or message me on social media.
What does an interior design from Stefańska Design include?
An interior design covers 7 service stages: a project meeting with a site survey, material selection and moodboard, a 2D functional layout, 3D visualizations (and AI animation in the Premium package), technical documentation with a cost estimate, realization coordination and final styling. The whole project is delivered as one package — we define the scope at a free project quote.
What do the technical documentation and cost estimate include?
The technical documentation for an interior design is a full set of construction drawings for the renovation crew: wall elevations with dimensions and material notes, an electrical diagram (sockets, light points, switches), a plumbing diagram (water and sewage points) and a full material specification with prices. Plus an execution cost estimate, so you know what everything will cost before work begins. Technical documentation is available in the Standard and Premium packages.
What's the difference between a 3D visualization and a 2D floor plan?
A 2D floor plan (functional layout) is a top-down plan with furniture, built-ins and dimensions — essential for the renovation crew. A 3D visualization is a photorealistic render showing what the interior will look like after the renovation: specific materials, furniture, colors and lighting. Visualizations let you make material decisions before the renovation and avoid costly changes mid-way. In the Basic package: 3–4 views, Standard: 5–7 views (higher quality), Premium: 8 high-resolution views + AI animation.
What is the AI animation in the Premium package?
An AI animation is a short video (usually 15–30 seconds) showing the designed interior in motion — as if you were walking through the space. It's generated from the 3D visualizations using AI tools. Available exclusively in the Premium package (249 zł/m²). It's great for showing the design to family or the renovation crew.
Do you only design whole apartments, or single rooms too?
I design both single rooms (bathroom, kitchen, living room, bedroom) and whole apartments and houses. A single-room design is a good option for a staged renovation or when you want to test the collaboration. A whole-home design gives aesthetic coherence and is more cost-effective per m².
Do you help with buying furniture and choosing finishing materials?
Yes — material selection is an integral part of every package. In the Basic package I prepare a moodboard with a list of recommended materials and price alternatives. In the Standard package I deliver a full specification with products, prices and links. In the Premium package I additionally arrange showroom visits with the client (up to 4 hours), so you can see and touch the materials before deciding.
What is realization coordination and is it mandatory?
Realization coordination means meeting the renovation crew on site — I walk them through the design, answer the contractors' technical questions and verify they understand every detail. It prevents errors caused by the crew's own interpretation of the design. Realization coordination isn't mandatory, but I strongly recommend it for full renovations. It's available in the Premium package (min. 2 site visits).
How much does interior design cost in Łódź and the Łódź region?
Interior design at Stefańska Design is priced per m² and depends on the chosen package. Current (promotional) prices: Basic package — 110 zł/m² (~3–4 weeks), Standard package — 160 zł/m² (~3–4 weeks), Premium package with realization coordination — 249 zł/m² (~7–10 weeks). A 35 m² studio apartment design in the Basic package is roughly 3,850 zł, in the Standard package about 5,600 zł. Prices apply to clients from Łódź and the entire Łódź region (Pabianice, Zgierz, Piotrków Trybunalski, Bełchatów, Skierniewice and nearby). Every quote is individual — start with a free project quote.
What's the difference between the Basic, Standard and Premium packages?
The Basic (110 zł/m²) package includes: an online project meeting, site survey, functional layout (2 versions), moodboard, material selection and 3D visualizations (3–4 views). No technical documentation — suitable when you have a trusted crew that doesn't need construction drawings.
The Standard (160 zł/m²) includes everything in Basic, plus: an on-site project meeting (up to 4 h), functional layout (3 versions), higher-quality 3D visualizations (5–7 views per room), a full material specification, technical documentation (electrical and plumbing diagrams) and an execution cost estimate.
The Premium (249 zł/m²) includes everything in Standard, plus: 8 high-resolution 3D views, AI animation, material showroom visits (up to 4 h), realization coordination (min. 2 site visits), final styling of the finished space and a personalized artwork for your interior painted by the designer.
How does payment work?
Payment is split into 3 stages: a 30% deposit after signing the contract, 40% after the preliminary design is approved, and 30% upon delivery of the complete final design. This model is the industry standard and keeps the collaboration safe for both sides.
Is the first call paid?
The first meeting (30 minutes) is free and non-binding — over Google Meet or by phone. It lets you assess our working style, and lets me understand the project scope and propose the right package.
Are there additional costs beyond the package price?
I always communicate all costs at the start — no hidden fees. Additional costs can only apply to: revisions beyond the package scope (e.g. changing the entire layout after approval), extra site visits outside the Premium package, or special orders. Every such option is discussed and priced in advance.
What does the whole interior design process look like?
Interior design at Stefańska Design covers 7 stages. We start with a project meeting and questionnaire, then a measurement visit with a site survey. Next I prepare the material selection and moodboard, several 2D functional layout variants and 3D visualizations. Once the design is approved, I compile the technical documentation with a cost estimate. The Premium package adds realization coordination on site and final styling. At every stage you know what's happening and what to expect next.
How long does an interior design project take?
The timeline depends on the chosen package and floor area. Basic and Standard packages: ~3–4 weeks for an apartment up to 60 m². The Premium package with realization coordination: ~7–10 weeks plus the renovation time. If decisions are made quickly and revisions are limited, it can be shorter. The clock starts when the contract is signed and the materials (floor plans, photos) are handed over.
When is the best time to contact an interior designer?
As early as possible — a designer can only genuinely help before the key renovation decisions are made. When buying a new-build apartment: 3–6 months before the planned fit-out (developer customization requires a design). For a full renovation: 6–8 months ahead, to allow time for design, orders and material deliveries. If you're not sure — write to me and we'll figure it out together.
Are meetings in person or online?
Meetings take place at your home, online (Google Meet/phone) or out and about (material showroom visits). The first meeting — always free, usually online. On-site surveys: I cover Łódź and the entire Łódź region — Pabianice, Zgierz, Piotrków Trybunalski, Bełchatów, Skierniewice, Sieradz and nearby. Design presentations and revisions — online or in person. Clients outside the region are served fully remotely.
Can I change the design along the way?
Yes — the design is created iteratively, in close cooperation with you. At the concept stage you get revision rounds within your chosen package. If bigger changes come up after the technical documentation is approved (e.g. changing the entire functional layout), they may be priced separately. I make sure every stage stays clear and flexible for you.
Do I have to take part in every stage of the project?
Your involvement matters, but you don't have to be present at every stage. Active participation is needed for: the brief and design questionnaire, approving the functional layout variant and signing off the visualizations. The rest — design work, specifications, documentation — I handle myself and present as finished proposals.
How should I prepare for the first meeting?
Three things are enough for the first meeting: (1) a floor plan — the developer's PDF, a plan from Google Maps or your own measurements; (2) a few inspirations — photos from Pinterest, Instagram or interior magazines; (3) a rough renovation budget. If you don't have any of these — reach out anyway. We'll start with a conversation about your needs.
Do I need to have a renovation crew before the design?
No — it's best to choose the crew after the technical documentation is ready. With a finished design and cost estimate, you can invite several crews to quote and compare offers on the same basis. It's standard practice that usually lets you negotiate better prices and avoid budget surprises.
Czy pracujesz z mieszkaniami w stanie deweloperskim?
Yes — developer's standard (a finished shell with plaster and screed, without finishes) is the most common situation among clients in Łódź and the region. It's the perfect moment for an interior design: you have full freedom in planning installations, you can design the lighting from scratch and choose all the materials without constraints from previous decisions. I work with new builds across the entire Łódź region.
What interior styles do you design?
I design interiors tailored to your preferences and lifestyle — I don't impose a single aesthetic direction. The most common styles: modern minimalism, Scandinavian, loft/industrial, classic and eclectic. If you have something else in mind — boho, japandi, glamour, vintage — we'll find the right direction together at the first call.
