How the interior looks

Completed
Łódź

The dark, wooden attic kitchen didn't match the rest of the house and wasn't practical. The sloping ceilings were the biggest challenge — they decided where every cabinet could go. I designed bright made-to-measure units with two rows of wall cabinets, LED lighting and colours matched to the whole house.

02Starting point

What the clients came with

House · 20 m² · Łódź. The main needs and problems the project started from.

  1. 01

The old kitchen was dark, impractical and not cosy.

  2. 02

It had to look like the rest of the house — bright, with a touch of glamour.

  3. 03

The sloping ceilings limited the units, yet everything had to fit.

05Decisions

Key design decisions

What I designed, and why that way.

01

Problem The sloping ceilings took away cabinet space and made the layout hard.

Units shaped to the slopes

I put the tall units where the height allows and kept a low worktop under the slope. All the cabinets and appliances fit, and the slope doesn't feel oppressive.

02

Two rows of lit wall cabinets

At the clients' request I designed two rows of cabinets: more storage, and the lower blush row, lit with an LED strip, lights the worktop.

03

A lit plinth

An LED strip in the plinth makes the heavy tall units look lighter — as if floating above the floor.

04

Colours from NCS and RAL

I chose the front colours from NCS and RAL swatches so the kitchen matches the rest of the house. The blush shade returns in the wall cabinets and the sideboard under the slope.

06Materials

Materials and workmanship

What I chose, where it came from and what we kept.

  • Dark worktop with a gas hob under blush lit cabinets.

    Worktop and appliances

Dark worktop, gas hob and sink. Some items bought in DIY and chain stores.

Made-to-measure units
All the units were made by a carpenter to the design: white high-gloss fronts and blush cabinets.
Lappato tiles

The attic kitchen in a family house in Łódź was dark, wooden and didn’t match the other rooms at all. The clients — a family who came to me by recommendation — wanted every detail right: bright, practical and with a touch of glamour, like the rest of the house.

The sloping ceilings were the hardest part. They limited the height of the units and the room for appliances, so I drew each cabinet for a specific part of the roof. The design took about a week, and a carpenter made the furniture to measure.

Planning a kitchen in an attic or a room with sloping ceilings? Let’s start with a survey and a conversation.
